Al Hrabosky pitched in the majors for 13 seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals (1970-1977), Kansas City Royals (1978-1979) and Atlanta Braves (1980-1982). Nicknamed “The Mad Hungarian” as a result of his antics on the pitching mound, Hrabosky recorded 97 saves as a closer over the course of his career and, in 1975, led the National League in saves with 22. That same year, he was named recipient by The Sporting News of the “NL Fireman of the Year” award. Hrabosky attended Savanna High School and played collegiately for Fullerton College, where he set or ranks near the top in many school pitching categories. He was drafted in the 1st round by St. Louis in the 1969 draft and made his Major League Baseball debut on June 16, 1970.

Hrabosky has served as an analyst for Cardinals games since 1984 and has worked for Sportstime, Prime Sports Midwest and FOX Sports Midwest, the latter since 1997. He also hosted a radio show on KFNS 950 AM and has worked as a color commentator on FOX’s Saturday Baseball Game of the Week. He has received numerous honors, including induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, Fullerton College Hall of Fame and Savannah High School Hall of Fame. In 2017, Hrabosky was the recipient of the Legends Award as part of the Jack Buck Sports Awards.
