Chris Carpenter spent 15 seasons as a pitcher in Major League Baseball and played for the Toronto Blue Jays (1997-2002) and St. Louis Cardinals (2004-2012). Carpenter won two World Series with the Cardinals in 2006 and 2011 and was the recipient of the National League Cy Young Award in 2005. He was three times an All-Star and was named the National League Comeback Player of the Year in 2009 after leading the National League with a 2.24 ERA.
The Sporting News twice named Carpenter its National League Pitcher of the Year and, in 2016, he was inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame. At the time of his retirement in 2013, Carpenter was ranked in the top 10 in numerous all-time Cardinals pitching categories. With a winning percentage of .683, he was ranked 2nd in Cardinals history among pitchers who started at least 100 games.
Carpenter was picked in the 1st round by the Blue Jays in the 1993 amateur draft and made his Major League Baseball debut on May 12, 1997. Carpenter grew up in New Hampshire and went to school at Trinity High School, where he was named all-state in both hockey and baseball for three years.
