Bruce Arians was named head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. Prior to joining Tampa Bay, he served as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2013-2017 and led the franchise to a 49-30 overall record. During his time in the desert, Arians was named NFL Coach of the Year by the Associated Press in 2012 and 2014, where during the latter year the Cardinals posted an 11-5 record.
From 2004-2006, Arians coached wide receivers under head coach Bill Cowher for the Pittsburgh Steelers, helping the team to victory in Super Bowl XL. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2007, a position he held through the 2012 season, which included winning a second Super Bowl (XLIII). In 2012, Arians moved to Indianapolis where he was named offensive coordinator but ended up serving as interim head coach for 12 week after head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with cancer.
Arians’ coaching start came in 1975 when he was a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech. He went on to coach at Mississippi State (1978-1980, 1993-1995) and Alabama (1981-1982) before becoming head coach at Temple, where he remained from 1983-1988. He moved to the NFL in 1989 when he was hired to coach the running backs with the Kansas City Chiefs, a position he held through the 1992 season. He would later serve as an assistant for the Saints, Colts and Browns before being hired by the Steelers. Arians in 2018 worked briefly as an NFL game analyst for CBS Sports before accepting the head coaching position with Tampa Bay.
