Charlie Batch played quarterback in the NFL for 15 seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2002-2012) and Detroit Lions (1998-2001). Batch started 46 games during his four seasons with the Lions but was used primarily as a backup with the Steelers. He won two Super Bowls with the Steelers (Super Bowl XL and XLII). Batch was drafted by the Lions in the 2nd round of the 1998 NFL Draft out of Eastern Michigan, where he set most every school passing record. He was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania and attended Steel Valley Senior High School.

Batch is known as much for his philanthropy work as he was for his play on the field and has been recognized for his work. In 2002, he was the recipient of the Schramm-McCracken Prize. In 2006, he was the first recipient of the Jerome Betts Award for Humanity and Community Service. His Best of the Patch Foundation assists families and children living in distressed communities by providing college scholarship, yearly book bag give aways and organizing a summer basketball camp. After retirement, Batch started a second career as a broadcaster and has worked as a commentator for Steelers pre-season games as well as a pre-game analyst on KDKA-TV. He’s also served as an analyst for high school football and basketball games broadcast on the Champs Sports Network.
