Darren Sproles is a retired NFL running back and return specialist who played from 2005-2019 with the San Diego Chargers (2005-2010), New Orleans Saints (2011-2013) and Philadelphia Eagles (2014-2019). Throughout his career, versatility helped Sproles put up impressive numbers, whether at running back, in the passing game or as a punt/kickoff returner. He holds the NFL record for most all-purpose yards in a single season (2,696), which he posted in 2011. Later in his career, Sproles won a Super Bowl LII ring as a member of the Eagles.
Sproles was named to the Pro Bowl in three straight seasons from 2014-2016. A member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, Sproles additionally earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2014. Having spent the first six years of his career in San Diego, Sproles was named a member of the Chargers 50th Anniversary Team. In his 15-year career, he racked up 11,313 yards returning punts and kickoffs, 3,552 rushing yards and 4,840 receiving yards. On offense and on special teams, he scored 64 career touchdowns. In his first six professional seasons, Sproles eclipsed 1,000 return yards. The 2011 season saw him post career-highs in both rushing yards (603) and receiving yards (708). Sproles played college football at Kansas State, where he earned first-team All-Big 12 and All-American honors in 2003.
