Malcolm Jenkins has played safety in the NFL since 2009, currently for the New Orleans Saints and previously for the Philadelphia Eagles (2014-2019) and Saints (2009-2013). During his rookie campaign with the Saints in 2009, Jenkins played in 14 games, starting six, and won a championship when they defeated the Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, 31-17. In 2010, Jenkins earned second-team All-Pro honors as he set a career-best in interception return yards with 105.
With the Eagles in 2015, Jenkins earned his first Pro Bowl selection after posting a career-high 109 tackles. He once more was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017, recording 76 tackles and eight pass deflections in route to winning his second championship as Philadelphia beat New England in Super Bowl LII, 41-33. In the title game, Jenkins posted four tackles along with a pass deflection. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career in 2018. Born on December 20, 1987 in East Orange, New Jersey, Jenkins played college football at Ohio State from 2005-2008 under head coach Jim Tressel, where he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in three consecutive seasons from 2006-2008. He also earned All-American accolades in 2007 and 2008 and won the Jim Thorpe Award the latter year as college football’s best defensive back.
Off the field, Jenkins started the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation which aims to bring about positive change to underserved youth in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and New Jersey. Examples of the foundation’s work include the launch of an education program (Pennsylvania), distributing food and providing other resources to 1,200 families (Ohio) and hosting 425 kids at a football camp (New Jersey). In 2017, Jenkins was recognized for his community involvement by winning the Byron Whizzer White Award, the highest honor given out by the National Football Players Association (NFLPA). Jenkins is also an advocate for social justice and in 2020 met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill about race relations and criminal justice reform. That same year, Jenkins joined CNN as a social and racial justice contributor.
