Hunter Pence played outfield in the majors from 2007-2020 with the Houston Astros (2007-2011), Philadelphia Phillies (2011-2012), San Francisco Giants (2012-2018, 2020) and Texas Rangers (2019). Pence won two World Series with the Giants and was a four-time All-Star (2009, 2011, 2014, 2019). He recorded a career batting average of .279 to go along with 244 homers and 942 RBI. Pence made his MLB debut with the Astros on April 28, 2007 and, during his first year in the big leagues, batted .322 with 17 home runs and 69 RBI, a performance that saw him place third in that year’s A.L. Rookie of the Year voting. After being traded to San Francisco mid-season in 2012, he made an immediate impact and helped the Giants to a World Series title. Pence won a second World Series ring with the Giants in 2014, batting .277 with 20 homers and 74 RBI on the year.
Known for his durability, in seven straight seasons from 2008-2014 Pence missed a total of 26 games (less than 1.5% of regular season games) during that span. In both 2013 and 2014, Pence played in every regular season contest for San Francisco, earning MVP votes in both years. During his lone season with the Rangers in 2019, Pence amassed a batting average of .297 with 18 home runs, earning his fourth and final trip to the All-Star Game. Pence was born on April 13, 1983 in Fort Worth, Texas. He played college baseball at Texarkana College before transferring to the University of Texas at Arlington. He was picked by Houston in the 2004 MLB draft (2nd round).
