Jake Plummer quarterbacked in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 years from 1997-2006 with the Arizona Cardinals (1997-2002) and Denver Broncos (2003-2006.) In 1998, his second season in the NFL, Plummer threw for 3,737 yards and guided Arizona to a 9-7 record and playoff appearance, which included a 20-7 upset over the Dallas Cowboys, the Cardinals’ first postseason victory since 1947.
After joining the Broncos in 2003, Plummer went on to enjoy one of the best statistical seasons of his career when he posted a career-high 91.7 passer rating, throwing 15 touchdowns against seven picks. The next season, he set career-bests in touchdowns (27) and passing yards (4,089), leading Denver to the playoffs behind a 10-6 record. In 2005, Plummer earned a spot in the Pro Bowl after he recorded a 90.2 passer rating with 18 touchdowns while leading the Broncos to a 13-3 mark and AFC West Division title before falling to the eventual Super Bowl-champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
Plummer was born on December 19, 1974 in Boise, Idaho. He played college football at Arizona State from 1993-1996, where as a senior he was a Heisman Trophy finalist, first-team All-American and the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year. He became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
