Joe Lunardi’s name is synonymous with college basketball and the NCAA Tournament. As the inventor or Bracketology, Lunardi has been analyzing and predicting the tournament field and seedings for ESPN.com since its beginning. Prior to joining ESPN on a full-time basis, Lunardi served as head of communications and marketing for Saint Joseph’s University, his alma mater, for more than 30 years. A life-long college basketball fan, Lunardi grew up following Philadelphia Big 5 basketball and Saint Joseph’s. He wrote for the Delaware (PA) Daily Times and Philadelphia Bulletin before being hired as the editor of the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook. Blue Ribbon added in 1995 a post-season NCAA Tournament Guide, which led to the creation of Bracketology.

Lunardi, who has covered more than 1,100 St. Joseph’s basketball games, still serves as a color analyst for the team’s games on ESPN+. In 2021, Lunardi authored his first book titled “Bracketology: March Madness, College Basketball, and the Creation of a National Obsession”.
