Kevin Garnett is a retired NBA forward/center who played professionally from 1995-2016 with the Minnesota Timberwolves (1995-2007, 2015-2016), Boston Celtics (2008-2013) and Brooklyn Nets (2013-2015). A 2020 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Garnett was a 15-time NBA All-Star in 1997, 1998, 2000-2011 and 2013. In 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2008 he earned All-NBA First-Team honors, while his efforts in the 2001, 2002 and 2005 seasons saw him placed on the All-NBA Second-Team.
Garnett averaged 17.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game during his career, and in 2004, he won the NBA MVP award. From 2004-2007, he led the NBA in rebounding every season. In his career, Garnett’s defense was rewarded as nine times he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First-Team. In his first year with Boston, playing alongside Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, Garnett earned MVP Defensive Player of the Year honors and helped lead the Celtics to an NBA championship.
Garnett was selected by Minnesota directly out of high school in the 1995 NBA Draft. While in high school, he earned a wide array of accolades as a prep athlete, including the Mr. Basketball USA award and McDonald’s All-American Game MVP honors. Internationally, he won a gold medal representing the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. In 2006, Garnett was honored for his charitable efforts when he received the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award.
