Robert Parish, nicknamed “The Chief”, is a retired NBA center who played 21 professional seasons from 1976-1997 with the Golden State Warriors (1976-1980), Boston Celtics (1980-1994), Charlotte Hornets (1994-1996) and Chicago Bulls (1996-1997). A 2003 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Parish was an integral part of the Boston Celtics’ 1980s glory days, helping them capture three NBA titles in 1981, 1984 and 1986. In 1996, he was named to the list of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.

Parish was a nine-time NBA All-Star (1981-1987, 1990-1991). His jersey #00 has been retired by the Celtics and, in total for his career, he averaged 14.5 points a game along with 9.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. In 1996-1997, Parish’s final NBA season, he played with the Chicago Bulls, helping them to a championship, his fourth title. His 21 years in the league ranks him second all-time in seasons played and his 1,611 games ranks him first.

Parish attended Centenary College from 1972-1976. He was the NCAA co-leader in rebounding in 1975 and 1976 and was named an All-American as a senior. He became a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. Parish was the 8th overall selection in the 1976 NBA Draft by Golden State.
