He won another Silver Slugger for his strong offensive output and placed 10th that year in N.L. MVP voting.
In 1990 while with Montreal, Walker ranked seventh in A.L. Rookie of the Year voting. Two years later, he won his first Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award, placing fifth in the A.L. MVP voting behind a 23 home run and 93 RBI season, batting .301 in the process. Walker had another dominant season for the Rockies in 2001 as a member of the “Blake Street Bombers” along with Vinny Castilla, Dante Bichette, and Andres Galarraga, notching 38 homers with 138 RBI while leading the N.L. with a .350 batting average.
