Mark Jackson is a retired NBA player and former head coach. During his 18-year playing career, he played for the New York Knicks (1987-1992, 2001-2002) Los Angeles Clippers (1992-1994), Indiana Pacers (1994-1996, 1997-2000), Denver Nuggets (1996-1997), Toronto Raptors (2000-2001), Utah Jazz (2002-2003) and Houston Rockets (2003-2004). Jackson earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1988 behind a stat line of 13.6 points and 10.6 assists per game. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team the same year and played in all 82 games for New York, starting 80. He followed that up with a career-high 16.9 points per game in 1989, leading the Knicks to the playoffs and earning a selection as an NBA All-Star. Jackson played for New York through 1992 before joining the Clippers for two seasons, averaging 12.7 points per game.

He would go on to play for several more teams (including again for the Knicks) before retiring at the end of the 2004 season. He finished his career ranked 13th all-time in the NBA for games played (1,296) and 4th all-time in assists (10,323) Jackson played much of the mid to late 1990s with the Indiana Pacers and after brief stints with Toronto, he rejoined the Knicks again from 2000-02, Utah and Houston, he retired in 2004, having averaged 9.6 points and 8.0 assists in his career.

After his playing days, Jackson served as an NBA analyst for ABC, ESPN and The YES Network. In 2011, he was named head coach of the Golden State Warriors, leading the team to its first back-to-back playoff appearances since 1992. He left the team in 2014 and returned to broadcasting for ESPN. Jackson played collegiately for St. John’s from 1983-87. He led the NCAA in assists in 1986 and was a second team All-American as a senior in 1987. He was drafted by the Knicks in the first round of the 1987 NBA Draft.
