Tim Hardaway played the guard position in the NBA from 1989-2003 with the Golden State Warriors (1989-1996), Miami Heat (1996-2001), Dallas Mavericks (2001-2002), Denver Nuggets (2002) and Indiana Pacers (2003). Hardaway averaged 17.7 points and 8.2 assists per game during his career. He became the 2nd fastest player in the history of the NBA to reach the 5,000 points and 2,500 assists milestone, trailing only Oscar Robertson. Hardaway was a five-time NBA All-Star and was additionally named to the All-NBA First Team in 1997 as a result of his averaging 20.3 points and 8.6 assists per contest. Similarly, Hardaway was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 1992, 1998 and 1999.
Hardaway started 78 games for Golden State in 1989-1990, averaging 14.7 points per game and earning NBA All-Rookie First Team honors. From 1991-1993, he averaged a per game double-double in points (22.5) and assists (10) in back-to-back seasons. His points per game average of 23.4 for the 1991-1992 season was a career-high as were his 10.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game he averaged the next year. Internationally, Hardaway won a gold medal representing the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Hardaway’s jersey #10 was retired by both Miami and UTEP, where he played collegiately from 1987-1989. Hardaway was named the WAC Player of the Year in 1989 while playing for the Miner before being selected by the Warriors in the 1st round of that year’s NBA draft.
