Orel Hershiser is a former MLB pitcher who played from 1983-2000, spending 13 of his 18 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hershiser was a three-time All Star from 1987-89. Originally used by the Dodgers as a relief pitcher, in 1984 he began to see action as a starter. Hershiser registered a 19-3 record in 1986, leading the National League in winning percentage. With an ERA of 2.03, he finished third in the NL Cy Young Award voting. 1988 saw Hershiser deliver one of the most incredible seasons by a pitcher in MLB history. The Dodgers won the World Series, Hershiser was voted World Series MVP, he led the NL in wins with 23 wins and won the NL Cy Young Award unanimously. Perhaps most impressive was his 59 scoreless innings pitched streak, which set an MLB record that stands to this day.

Hershiser stayed in L.A. through the 1994 season, winning a Silver Slugger Award in 1993. He played for the Cleveland Indians from 1995-97 and joined San Francisco and the New York Mets in 1998 and 1999 before returning to, and eventually retiring as a Dodger in 2000. In his career, he compiled a 204-150 record to go along with a 3.48 ERA and 2,014 strikeouts. Hershiser has enjoyed a successful post-retirement broadcasting career and is a color analyst for the Dodgers.
