Ryan Shazier is a former NFL linebacker who played his entire career from 2014-2019 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shazier was a two-time Pro Bowl selection in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, he posted 87 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions, following it up with a career-best 89 tackles the next year to go along with three more interceptions. Shazier played in 46 career NFL games, recording 299 tackles, seven sacks and seven interceptions.

In 2017, Shazier suffered a serious spine injury that required him to re-learn how to walk and ended his NFL career prematurely. In 2019, he was honored by the Pro Football Writers Association with their George Halas Award in recognition of the adversity Shazier overcame.

Shazier was the Steelers’ first-round (No. 15) draft pick in 2014 out of Ohio State after enjoying a stellar collegiate career. He was twice named First-Team All-Big Ten (2012, 2013) and also in 2013 was voted a First-Team All-American by ESPN, the Associated Press, USA Today and Sports Illustrated. Shazier led the Big Ten in tackles for loss in 2012 before leading the league in total tackles for the 2013 season. In 2019, Shazier returned to Ohio State to complete his education, graduating in 2020.
