Thomas Davis is a former NFL linebacker who spent 16 seasons in the NFL, most notably with the Carolina Panthers (2005-2018) but also the Los Angeles Chargers (2019) and Washington Football Team (2020). He earned three straight Pro Bowl appearances from 2015-2017 and was named First-Team All-Pro in 2015, posting 105 tackles and a career-high 5.5 sacks for the Panthers.
Davis advanced to the playoffs with the Panthers in six seasons, helping the team to the NFC Championship Game in 2005 as a rookie and Super Bowl 50 for the 2015 campaign. In 199 career games played, Davis registered 1,216 tackles, 29 sacks and 18 forced fumbles. Davis had seven seasons in which he recorded 100 or more tackles, including five straight from 2012-2016.
Davis was well respected not only for his play on the field and community work off it but also for overcoming adversity in dealing with injury. He is the only NFL player to have ever come back from three torn ACL tears. In 2016, Davis won the Bart Starr Award, recognizing his character and leadership at home, in the community and on the football field. Similarly, he was the 2014 recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in recognition of his community and philanthropic efforts.
From 2002-2004, Davis played college football at Georgia, where he was named First-Team All-SEC in 2002 and 2003 as well as a First-Team All-American in 2003. The Panthers selected him 14th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft.
