Tino Martinez is a retired infielder who played Major League Baseball from 1990 – 2005 for the Seattle Mariners (1990-95), New York Yankees (1996-2001, 2005), St. Louis Cardinals (2002-03) and Tampa Bay Rays (2004). He is best remembered for his time with the Yankees, where he won four World Series titles in 1996 and 1998-2000. He was a two time All-Star, a 1997 Silver Slugger Award winner and is a Monument Park honoree at Yankee Stadium. During his 16-year career, he scored 1,008 runs with 1,271 RBI and 339 home runs. In six different seasons, he had 100 or more RBI.

Martinez was born in Tampa, Florida and attended Tampa Catholic High School before transferring to Jefferson High School. He helped lead both schools to state baseball titles. Upon graduation, he enrolled at the University of Tampa, where he played three years and was an All-American each of the years. Today, he’s a member of the University of Tampa Athletics Hall of Fame. Also, the most outstanding Division II baseball player receives the Tino Martinez Award each year. Additionally, Martinez was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013. Martinez represented the United States in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea and, along with future MLB players Robin Ventura and Jim Abbott, won a gold medal.
