Tony Bennett Booking Agent Details
Tony Bennett is the current men’s head basketball coach at the University of Virginia. He led the Cavaliers to the 2019 NCAA National Championship after they defeated Texas Tech in overtime, 85-77. Bennett was named head coach at Virginia in 2009. In a 2015 CBS Sports poll of head coaches, Bennett was voted as the best defensive college basketball coach. He was voted the same in 2018 by ESPN Insider.
From 1999-2006, Bennett was an assistant and later associate head coach at Washington State before assuming head coaching duties in mid-2006. While leading the Cougars, he guided them to 26-win seasons in 2006 and 2007, establishing a school record for wins by the men’s basketball team. The Cougars made the NCAA Tournament both of those years, advancing as far as the Sweet 16 in 2007.
Bennett played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from 1988-92, winning back-to-back Summit League Player of the Year honors in 1991 and 1992. From 1992-95, he played point guard for the Charlotte Hornets before a foot injury ended his career. Turning to coaching, he headed to New Zealand and Australia, leading the North Harbour Vikings from 1996-97 and the Sydney Kings for part of 1997.
