Warren Moon is a retired quarterback who played for a total of 23 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). After not being drafted in the NFL, Moon began his professional playing career with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL, for whom he played from 1978-1983. Moon led the Eskimos to five consecutive Grey Cup titles from 1978-1982 and captured two Grey Cup MVP awards in 1980 and 1982. He was honored with the Jeff Nicklin Memorial Trophy as the CFL Most Outstanding Player in 1983.

Transitioning to the NFL in 1984, he joined Houston and played for the Oilers through 1993. Moon was a nine-time Pro-Bowler and six of those trips came during the time when he was in Houston. In 1990, Moon led the NFL with 4,689 passing yards and 33 touchdowns and claimed the AFC Player of the Year, NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards while also earning first-team All-Pro honors. Moon played for Minnesota from 1994-1996 and Seattle from 1997-1998. Moon retired in 2000 after spending his last two seasons in Kansas City, where he played sparingly.

Off the field, he was honored as the NFL Man of the Year in 1989 and won the Bart Starr Award in 1994. His jersey # 1 was retired by Houston/Tennessee and he is a member of their Ring of Honor. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
