Zach Parise is an NHL left winger who has played for Minnesota Wild since 2012. Prior to that, he played for the New Jersey Devils from 2005-2011. As a member of the Devils, he was named the team’s MVP in three consecutive years from 2008-2010. The 2007-2008 season saw Parise score 31 goals with 31 assists. The next season, he was named an All-Star in route to producing career-best numbers in goals (45), assists (49) and points (94). In 2011, New Jersey named Parise its team captain, only the second player in franchise history to be so honored (the other was Scott Stevens). That season, Parise recorded 31 goals along with 38 assists as he helped the Devils advance to the Stanley Cup Finals, which saw them fall to the Los Angeles Kings in six games.
Parise has enjoyed an extensive international career, which includes representing the United States in two Olympics, winning a silver medal at Vancouver in 2010. He has similarly represented the U.S. at the World Cup of Hockey, Ice Hockey World Championships and IIHF U18 World Championships, where he won a gold medal in 2002. Parise was born on July 28, 1984 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He spent two years playing college hockey at North Dakota, where he was nominated both years for the Hobey Baker Award, which is presented to the best collegiate hockey player. Parise was selected by New Jersey in the 1st round of the 2003 NHL Draft.
