Alan Faneca is a former NFL offensive lineman who played for 13 seasons, primarily with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1998-2007) and later the New York Jets (2008-2009) and Arizona Cardinals (2010). From 2001-2009, Faneca was named to nine consecutive Pro Bowls during which time he also earned first-team All-Pro honors six times (2001, 2002, 2004-2007). Additionally, he earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2003 and 2008. Faneca won a Super Bowl XL ring with the Steelers in 2006, helping Pittsburgh rack up 181 yards of rushing behind the play of Jerome Bettis and Willie Parker against the Seattle Seahawks in route to a 21-10 victory. He is a member of both the Steelers All-Time Team and the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. In total, Faneca played in 206 career NFL games, starting 201. In 2021, he became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame along with Calvin Johnson, John Lynch, Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, Tom Flores, Drew Pearson and Bill Nunn.
Born on December 7, 1976, Faneca was a collegiate standout at LSU, where he was a first-round selection in the 1998 NFL Draft by Pittsburgh. He earned back-to-back first-team All-SEC honors in 1996 and 1997, winning consensus All-American accolades as a senior in 1997 as well. In 1997, the SEC honored Faneca with the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the conference’s most efficient blocker. In the spring of 2021, Faneca was named head football coach at Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia.
