Bryant Young is a former NFL defensive lineman who spent the entirety of his 14-year career with the San Francisco Giants from 1994-2007. Young was named to the Pro Bowl in 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2002, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 1996 and second-team All-Pro honors for the 1998, 1999 and 2001 seasons. Young finished his career with 618 tackles and 89.5 sacks and was named a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. In 2022, he became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame along with Dick Vermeil, LeRoy Butler, Richard Seymour, Tony Boselli and others.
A first-round selection out of Notre Dame by San Francisco in the 1994 NFL Draft, Young started all 16 games for the 49ers that following fall and helping the team to a victory in Super Bowl XXIX. For his play that year, he was named NFC Rookie of the Year by United Press International. In 1996, he set career-bests in tackles (75) and sacks (11.5). During the 1998 season, Young suffered a serious leg injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. However, upon returning to the 49ers in 1999, he competed in all 16 games and recorded 11 sacks, the second-best total of his career, and was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year at the conclusion of the season. Young is also a member of the 49ers Hall of Fame. After his playing days, he served as an assistant coach at San Jose State, the University of Florida, and for the Atlanta Falcons.
