Caron Butler is a former NBA forward who played for 14 years, most notably with the Washington Wizards (2005-2010) and Dallas Mavericks (2010-2011) but also the Miami Heat (2002-2004), Los Angeles Lakers (2004-2005) Los Angeles Clippers (2011-2013), Milwaukee Bucks (2013-2014), Oklahoma City Thunder (2014), Detroit Pistons (2014-2015) and Sacramento Kings (2015-2016).
After starting 78 games for Miami as a rookie in 2002-2003, a season in which he averaged 15.4 points per game, Butler was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Butler was named an NBA All-Star for the 2007-2008 season as he set career-bests in multiple statistical categories, including steals (2.2), rebounds (4.9), and minutes (39.9) per game. His 20.3 points per game was a career best for him at the time. In 2008-2009, Butler earned his second straight NBA All-Star selection, establishing a new career-high in points per game with 20.8 while starting 67 games for Washington.
Butler won an NBA title with the Mavericks in his second and final year with the team in 2011, appearing in 29 games on the year and averaging 15.0 points per contest. Butler played college basketball at UCONN, where he earned Big East Player of the Year honors as well as first-team All-Big East accolades in 2002. After his playing days, Butler worked in broadcasting for ESPN and FS1 while in 2020, he was named an assistant coach with the Miami Heat. He also took business management classes at Duke and owns a number of Burger King franchises across the U.S.
