Alonzo Mourning Booking Agent Details
Alonzo Mourning played in the National Basketball League for 15 seasons for the Charlotte Hornets (1992-1995), Miami Heat (1995-2002, 2005-2008) and New Jersey Nets (2003-2004). Mourning enjoyed most of his success with the Heat and won an NBA title with them in 2006. He was seven times named an All-Star and was a first-team All-NBA choice in 1999. Known for his defensive skills, Mourning was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 & 2000 and to the NBA All-Defensive First-Team those same years. He also twice led the league in blocks. Mourning had his jersey #33 retired by the Heat – the first player in team history to have that occur – and went into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. Internationally, Mourning won a gold medal playing for the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Mourning grew upon in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he led Indian River High School to 51 straight wins and a state title. He was considered the top-rated high school player in the country his senior year and was named Mr. Virginia Basketball and Player of the Year by Parade, Gatorade and USA Today. Mourning signed to play at Georgetown University, where he was Big East Player of the Year and a consensus first-team All-American in 1992.
Off the court, Mourning has been very involved with philanthropic causes and, in 2002, was named the recipient of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. He founded Alonzo Mourning Charities, Zo’s Fund For Life and the Overtown Youth Center. A high school was named in his honor in 2009, the Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High Biscayne Bay Campus. Mourning has also been inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame.
