Craig Conroy is a retired center who played in the National Hockey League from 1994-2011 for the Montreal Canadiens (1994-1996), St. Louis Blues (1996-2001), Calgary Flames (2000-2004, 2006-2011) and Los Angeles Kings (2005-2007). In 1998, he was named a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, which is given to the league best defenseman, and the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, which is presented for sportsmanship. In 2010 at the age of 39, Conroy competed in his 1,000th NHL game and, in so doing, became the second-oldest player ever to attain that mark.
Conroy grew up in Potsdam, New York and went to Northwood School before playing collegiately at Clarkson University. During his senior season, Conroy led the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference in scoring in route to being named an NCAA and ECAC first-team All-Star. Clarkson retired his jersey #7 in 2012. Conroy was picked in the 6th round by the Canadiens in the 1990 draft and played in his first NHL contest on February 15, 1995. In addition to playing in the NHL, Conroy also competed in international play for the United States at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 and Winter Olympics in 2006. He retired in 2011 and went to work in the Flames front office. In 2014, Conroy was named assistant general manager.
