Claude Lemieux is a retired right winger who played in the NHL from 1983-2003 and 2008-2009 for the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks. Lemieux won four Stanley Cup titles in his career, one each with Montreal (1986) and Colorado (1996) and two with New Jersey (1995 and 2000. Lemieux is just one of 11 players in league history to win a Stanley Cup with at least three teams. For his efforts during the 1995 Stanley Cup playoffs, Lemieux was named MVP and awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy. His 80 goals in the Stanley Cup playoffs ranks in the top 10 all-time, trailing such greats as Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Brett Hull, Mike Bossy and Joe Sakic.
Lemieux was born on July 16, 1965 in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada. He was picked in the 1983 NHL Draft by Montreal in the 2nd round. Although Lemieux appeared in a few NHL games for Montreal during his first three seasons after being drafted, he did not spend a full season with Montreal until 1986-1987. In addition to his long career in the NHL, Lemieux also represented Canada in international play, including the 1985 World Junior Championships (gold medal), 1987 Canada Cup (gold medal) and 1996 World Cup (silver medal). Lemieux became a member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame in 2005.
