Dennis Hull is a former NHL left winger who played from 1964-1978. A younger brother of the legendary Bobby Hull, Dennis played primarily for the Chicago Blackhawks, with whom he spent all but one season of his 14-year career. He spent his final season in 1977-1978 with the Detroit Red Wings. In his youth career, Hull was an All-Star selection within the Ontario Hockey Association in 1964 before he joined the Blackhawks in 1966. He was five-time NHL All-Star Game participant in 1969 and 1971-1974 and scored at least 29 goals each of the latter four seasons. He also played for Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series and scored two goals along with two assists.
In 1973, Hull recorded a personal-best 39 goals and 51 assists. The Blackhawks made the Stanley Cup that season but lost to the Montreal Canadiens, four games to two. Hull led the Blackhawks with 24 points in the playoffs, which was second overall in the NHL for the 1973 postseason. Teammates in Chicago with his brother for eight seasons, Hull wrapped-up his career in Detroit in 1978 and, since retiring, has worked as a broadcaster and also an educator as Hull holds a degree in history and physical education. Hull was athletic director at the Illinois Institute of Technology and has written a book about his career entitled The Third Best Hull.
