Dexter Manley Booking Agent Details
Defensive end Dexter Manley played in the NFL for 11 seasons from 1981-1991 and spent all but two seasons of his career in the league with the Washington Redskins (1981-1989). He also played one season each with the Phoenix Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before finishing his career playing for the Ottawa Rough Riders and Shreveport Pirates of the Canadian Football League.
During his time in Washington, Manley, appropriately nicknamed the “Secretary of Defense”, won two titles under head coach Joe Gibbs - Super Bowl XVII against the Miami Dolphins and Super Bowl XXII against the Denver Broncos. In 1986, Manley set a single-season Redskins record for sacks 18.5 in route to being named a first-team All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl. He was inducted into the Redskins Ring of Fame and was named one of the 70 Greatest Redskins players of all-time.
Manley was born on February 2, 1959 in Houston, Texas. He played collegiately at Oklahoma State before being selected in the 5th round by Washington in the 1981 NFL Draft. Manley’s struggles with illiteracy and addiction to drugs have been well chronicled as has his inspirational story about overcoming the odds. In 1992, Manley authored the book “Educating Dexter”.
