Jack Nicklaus Booking Agent Details
Jack Nicklaus is synonymous with the game of golf. One of the sport’s greatest ambassadors and arguably its greatest player, Nicklaus achieved a level of greatness that may never be matched. Named by Sports Illustrated as the top male athlete of the 20th century, Nicklaus captured 73 PGA tournament wins, which ranks third all-time behind Sam Snead and Tiger Woods, and 18 majors, the most ever and three more than Woods. His major wins include six Masters, five PGA Championships, four U.S. Opens and three Open Championships. Nicklaus was the first back-to-back champion at the Masters and when he captured The Open Championship at 26 years old, Nicklaus became the youngest golfer to win the career majors grand slam. His final major came at the 1986 Masters at the age of 46 and has become one of the most iconic moments in golf history.
Nicklaus was born on January 21, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio and started playing golf when he was 10 years old. He attended college at Ohio State from 1957-1961 and played on the Buckeyes golf team, where he won the 1961 NCAA Championship along with two U.S. Amateur titles in 1959 and 1961. He was the first golfer to win both titles in the same year, a feat since matched by the likes of Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau. He also helped the U.S. to two Walker Cup wins in 1959 and 1961.
Nicklaus’s impressive list of accolades includes…
• PGA Tour Rookie of the Year (1962)
• 5-Time PGA Tour Player of the Year
• 8-Time PGA Tour Leading Money Winner
• World Golf Hall of Fame (1974)
• Canadian Golf Hall of Fame
• Payne Stewart Award
• Bob Jones Award
• PGA of America Distinguished Service Award (2000)
After retiring from competition, Nicklaus built a business empire and founded Nicklaus Companies to oversee his golf course design, real estate development and licensing businesses. Known for his generosity off the course, Nicklaus and his wife Barbara founded in 2004 the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, which to date has raised more than $100 million and led to the creation of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (formerly Miami Children’s Hospital) and Nicklaus Children’s Health System, the only children-exclusive healthcare system in the region. For his lifetime achievements, Nicklaus was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Lincoln Medal and Congressional Golf Medal, the first athlete and just the fourth person ever to receive all three awards.
