Jaromir Jagr played in 1,733 NHL games from 1990-2018, primarily with the Pittsburgh Penguins (1990-2001), Washington Capitals (2001-2004) and New York Rangers (2004-2008). Jagr trails only Wayne Gretzky for the all-time lead for most career points (1,921), as he scored 766 career goals with 1,155 assists. A two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992, Jagr was named to 13 NHL All-Star Games (1992-1994, 1996-2004, 2016). He captured five Art Ross trophies as the NHL’s leading scorer, including four straight from 1998-2001. After leading the NHL with 127 points in 1998-1999, scoring 44 goals with 83 assists, he won the Hart Memorial Trophy as NHL MVP. Jagr is the holder of several NHL records for a right wing, including most career points and assists.
A native of the Czech Republic, he is the highest-scoring European player in NHL history. Jagr also enjoyed a successful international hockey career, helping the Czech Republic to a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano as well as a bronze medal at the 2006 Olympics in Turin. He won gold medals twice for the Czech Republic at the World Championships (2005, 2010) as well as gold at the 2005 European Champions Cup. Upon leaving the NHL in 2018, Jagr continued his hockey career for Rytiri Kladno, which he owns, of the Czech Extraliga league. He is a member of both the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame and IIHF Hall of Fame.
