Jason Terry is a former NBA point guard who played for 19 seasons from 1999-2018 with the Atlanta Hawks (1999-2004), Dallas Mavericks (2004-2012), Boston Celtics (2012-2013), Brooklyn Nets (2013-2014), Houston Rockets (2014-2016) and Milwaukee Bucks (2016-2018).
Terry played 1,410 career games and had a points per game average of 13.4 throughout his playing days. His career-high in points came in 2000-2001 when he averaged 19.7 with the Hawks. In 2008-2009 with the Mavericks, Terry started only 11 games but averaged 19.6 points per game. For his impact, he was awarded the NBA Sixth Man of the Year. Terry would go on to be a key ingredient into Dallas’ 2010-2011 NBA Championship team. He averaged 15.8 points per game in the regular season and 17.5 in 21 postseason game appearances. The Mavs went on to beat LeBron James and the Miami Heat, 4-2, in the title series.
Terry played college basketball at Arizona from 1995-1999, where he was the Pac-10 Player of the Year and first-team All-Pac-10 as a senior in 1998-1999. He led the Wildcats to a NCAA Championship in 1997 and his jersey #31 has been retired by the school. He went on to become a 1st round NBA draft pick by Atlanta in 1999, where he was subsequently named second-team All-Rookie. After retiring from playing, in 2019 Terry was appointed assistant GM of the NBA G League’s Texas Legends.
