Joe Klecko is a retired NFL defensive lineman who enjoyed a successful pro career from 1977-1988, primarily with the New York Jets (1977-1987) and, for his final year, the Indianapolis Colts (1988). A member of the legendary “New York Sack Exchange”, Klecko was a two-time first-team All-Pro selection in 1981 and 1985 and was named to the Pro Bowl four times. In 2004, the Jets retired his jersey #73 - at the time he was just the third Jets player to be so honored. Klecko became a member of the Jets Ring of Honor in 2010.

In 1981, Klecko led the NFL with 20.5 sacks and was instrumental in leading the Jets to their first playoff appearance since 1969. For the year, he was named AFC Defensive Player of the Year. He earned similar Defensive Player of the Year honors that season from the Pro Football Writers Association and the Newspaper Enterprise Association.

Klecko attended college at Temple, leading the Owls in tackles every season during his time in Philadelphia from 1974-1976. As a junior and senior, he earned All-American honors. He was inducted into the Temple University Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. Klecko was picked by the Jets in the 1977 NFL draft in the 6th round. After retiring, Klecko worked in the construction industry and as a Jets analyst for SportsNet New York.
