Joe Mazzulla has served as head coach of the NBA’s Boston Celtics since 2023. During his first season in Beantown, Mazzulla guided the Celtics to the best record in the NBA at 64-18 as well as an Atlantic Division title. Boston went 16-3 in the playoffs, culminating with a five-game defeat of the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. Mazzulla is the youngest head coach to win an NBA Title since the great Bill Russell achieved the feat in 1969 as a player-coach with Boston. Mazzulla served as interim head coach of the Celtics in 2022-23, leading the team to a 57-25 record and the Eastern Conference Finals. In 2023, he also served as head coach at the NBA All-Star Game for Team Giannis.

Prior to that, he served as assistant coach of the Celtics from 2019-2022. From 2017-2019, Mazzulla coached the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons, posting back-to-back 20-win campaigns and a trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2018-2019. Mazzulla was a Falcons assistant from 2013-2016 and got his coaching start at Glenville State from 2011-2013. From 2016-2017, he served as an assistant for the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s G League affiliate. Mazzulla played college basketball at West Virginia from 2006-2011.
