Kevin Butler is a retired placekicker who played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears (1985-1995) and Arizona Cardinals (1996-1997). He was part of the legendary 1985 Bears team that won Super Bowl XX over the New England Patriots, 46-10. In that game, Butler made three field goals. That season he also set a then-rookie record for points scored with 144. At the end of his time in Chicago, Butler was the Bears’ all-time scoring leader after recording a total of 1,116 points (his record was broken by Robbie Gould in 2015). He finished his career with two seasons in Arizona.

Butler was born on July 24, 1962 in Savannah, Georgia and played collegiately at the University of Georgia, where he was a two-time All-American and three time First-Team All-SEC pick. He finished his college career as the all-time leading scorer in school history and is ranked second all-time in the history of the SEC. During his time in Athens, the Bulldogs won two conference titles and played in four bowl games. As a result of his efforts, Butler was honored by being named a member of the All-Time All-America team by ABC Sports and to the All-Century teams by Sports Illustrated and the Walter Camp Foundation. He became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001, the first kicker to be so honored.
