Mickey Redmond is a current Detroit Red Wings broadcaster and former NHL winger who played for the Montreal Canadiens (1967-1971) and Red Wings (1971-1975). Redmond was a rising star in the NHL after his first few seasons with the Canadiens but was traded to Detroit midway through the 1970-1971 campaign.

In 1971-1972, his first full season in Detroit, he scored 42 goals and added 29 assists. The following season, he became just the seventh player in NHL history and first-ever Red Wing to score 50 goals in a year, netting 52 with 41 assists, both career bests. Redmond had another 50-goal campaign in 1973-1974, finishing with 51. He was a member of the NHL First All-Star Team in 1973 and appeared in the 1974 All-Star Game. Injuries to his back limited Redmond over his final two NHL seasons and forced him to retire early from hockey at age 28.

Post-playing career, Redmond began work as a broadcaster, appearing on Hockey Night in Canada, NHL on ESPN and NHL on Fox as a commentator along with calling Red Wings games. In 2011, the Hockey Hall of Fame honored Redmond with the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award in recognition of his contributions to hockey as a broadcaster. In 2022, Redmond was inducted into the Michigan Hall of Fame.
