Mike Krukow is the longtime television and radio analyst for Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants. He can be seen on NBC Sports Bay Area and heard on KNBR Radio. He first started calling Giants games in 1990 and works with longtime partner Duane Kuiper as part of the “Kruk and Kuip” team. He also spent one season calling games for the Colorado Rockies during their inaugural season in 1993. Krukow has won 13 local Emmy Awards and was named Sportscaster of the Year in California in 2015 and 2017 by the National Sports Media Association. In 2008, Krukow became a member of the Giants Wall of Fame. In 2017, Krukow was named a finalist by the Baseball Hall of Fame for the Ford C. Frick Award, its highest honor given for excellence in broadcasting.
Prior to his broadcasting career, Krukow pitched in the majors for 14 seasons for the Chicago Cubs (1976-1981), Philadelphia Phillies (1982) and San Francisco Giants (1983-1989). Krukow’s most successful season occurred in 1986 with the Giants when he went 20-9 with an ERA of 3.05. He was named an All-Star that year and finished third in National League Cy Young voting behind Mike Scott and Fernando Valenzuela. In total for his career, Krukow compiled a record of 124-117 with an era of 3.90 and 1,478 strikeouts. Away from the diamond, Krukow has supported numerous charities, including Canine Guardians, which provides service dogs to veterans, children who have been diagnosed with cancer and others.
