Ryan Suter is an NHL defenseman who currently plays for the Dallas Stars, whom he joined during the 2021 offseason. Previously, he spent nine years playing for the Minnesota Wild (2012-2021). From 2005-2012, Suter played for the Nashville Predators, who selected him 7th overall in the 2003 NHL Draft. Suter is a three-time NHL All-Star (2012, 2015, 2017). During the 2011-2012 season - his final in a Predators uniform - he set a then-career-high in points (46) and assists (39), earning his first trip to the All-Star Game. The next year, Suter earned a place on the First All-Star team. The 2015-2016 campaign saw him best his previous career-highs when he posted eight goals and 43 assists in route to his second All-Star appearance.
In addition to his NHL career, Suter has represented the United States in international play. He won a gold medal at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2002 and later captured another gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2004. He competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, serving as an alternate captain, and helped the team advance to the gold medal game against rival Canada, which they lost in overtime, thus winning silver. He also competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and IIHL World Championships in 2019. The next year, Suter was named a member of the IIHF All-Time USA Team. Sutter was born on January 21, 1985. His father Bob was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic “Miracle on Ice” hockey team.
