Daryl Johnston, affectionately known as “Moose”, played fullback in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys from 1989-1999. Johnston played an important role on the Cowboys’ dynasty teams of the 1990s that featured future Hall of Famers Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin and won three Super Bowl titles (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX). Johnston was a two-time Pro Bowler and the first fullback ever to make the all-star squad. In total for his career, Johnston caught more passes than he did run carries. His 294 catches is the third-most in franchise history among running backs/fullbacks. After retiring in 1999, Johnson embarked on a successful broadcast career, working as an NFL analyst for CBS Sports, NFL Network and Fox Sports.

Born on February 10, 1966 in Youngstown, New York, Johnston played college football at Syracuse, where he was named All-Big East and an All-American in 1987 and 1988, respectively. In 2002, he was named a member of the school’s All-Century Team. Johnston was picked by Dallas in the 1989 NFL Draft (2^nd round) and went on to play in 149 straight games. Off the field, Johnston has been very involved in the Dallas community, supporting such non-profits as Special Olympics, Cystic Fibrosis, Children’s Cancer Fund and LIFT. He has also held the title of honorary chairman for the Gunslingers’ Ball (American Cancer Society) and the Aisles of Smiles campaign (MDA). He was the 2009 recipient of the Tom Landry Memorial Legends Award for his high standards, exemplary character and sprit through community work.
