Considered one of the top defensive players in NBA history, Dennis Rodman was a second round pick by the Detroit Pistons in 1986 and went on to win five NBA championships during a 14-year career from 1986-2000 with Detroit (1986-1993), San Antonio Spurs (1993-1995), Chicago Bulls (1995-1998), Los Angeles Lakers (1999) and Dallas Mavericks (2000). Rodman’s defensive prowess was evidenced by his winning NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors twice and being named NBA All-Defensive First Team seven times. He also led the league in rebounding seven times - an NBA record - and was twice named an All-Star. In 2011, Rodman’s jersey #10 was retired by Detroit and he became a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Rodman’s first title came while playing for the Pistons in 1989 when they defeated the Magic Johnson-led Lakers. The next year in 1990, Rodman won his second title when the Pistons when they defeated the Clyde Drexler-led Portland Trail Blazers. Rodman’s final three championships came during his time as part of the Bulls’ dynasty, which included such teammates as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant and Steve Kerr.
Rodman received as much attention for his personality off the court as he did on it. He dabbled in professional wrestling and partnered with Hulk Hogan in Bash at the Beach. He also won the first Celebrity Championship Wrestling series. Additionally, Rodman hosted his own television show called The Rodman World Tour” and starred in a couple of movies, “Simon Sez” and “Double Team”. He also appeared in several reality shows, including “Celebrity Apprentice”, “Celebrity Mole” and “Celebrity Big Brother”. Rodman is the author of several books, including “I Should be Dead By Now” and “Bad As I Wanna Be”.
