Ken Daneyko is a retired NHL defenseman who played his entire professional career from 1983-2003 with the New Jersey Devils. Affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Devil” by fans, Daneyko owns the New Jersey franchise record for games played with 1,283. Daneyko helped elevate the Devils to three Stanley Cup victories (1994-1995, 1999-2000 and 2002-2003). He won the last championship in his final season in the NHL.

Daneyko was selected as the 18th overall pick in the 1st round of the 1982 NHL Draft by New Jersey. He was first called up in 1983, playing in 11 games, and after spending the majority of 1983-1986 bouncing between the Devils and the minors, he emerged as a mainstay defenseman for the team. In the aftermath of the 1999-2000 Stanley Cup season, Daneyko was awarded the Bill Masterson Trophy, which honors the NHL player who best shows the qualities of good sportsmanship, perseverance and dedication to hockey.

In 2006, the Devils retired his #3 jersey, making Daneyko only the second such player to be honored by the franchise (the other was Scott Stevens). Since his playing days, he’s worked as a broadcast analyst for Devils games. Born on April 17, 1964 in Windsor, Ontario, Daneyko was raised in Edmonton, Alberta.
