Kyle Long played in the NFL as an offensive guard and spent his entire seven-year career from 2013-2019 with the Chicago Bears. In his first professional season, Long was named to Pro Bowl and Pro Football Writers Association (PFWA) All-Rookie Team. He followed that up by earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2014 and from 2013-2015, he was named to the Pro Bowl three straight years. By earning Pro Bowl honors his first year in the league, Long became Chicago’s first rookie to do so since 2009. He continued his strong play in 2014, being named again to the Pro Bowl while receiving second-team All-Pro honors. In 2015, Long was named to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive year. He was named by the Chicago Tribune to its list of the 100 Best Chicago Bears Players of all-time.
Long was born on December 5, 1988 in Ivy, Virginia and attended high school at St. Anne’s-Belfield School, where he was a multi-sport standout in baseball and football. Long was named a football High School All-American in 2007 by USA Today and also received an invite to play in the 2008 Army All-American Bowl. The Chicago White Sox selected Long in the 23rd round of the 2008 MLB Draft but he chose to concentrate on football. After transferring to the University of Oregon after stints at Florida State and Saddleback College, Long was the 20th overall pick by Chicago in the 2013 NFL Draft, becoming the first offensive guard to be selected by the Bears in the opening round in 53 years. He is the son of Hall of Famer Howie Long and brother of former NFL player Chris Long.
