Tony Casillas played defensive tackle in the NFL from 1986-1997 and is best remembered for his time with the Dallas Cowboys from 1991-1993 and 1996-1997. He also played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1986-1990 and New York Jets in 1994-1995. While playing for the Cowboys, Casillas was part of the legendary Cowboys teams that won back-to-back titles in Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII and included future Hall of Famers Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Charles Haley. Casillas was picked 2nd overall in the 1st round by Atlanta in 1986 and played for the Falcons for five seasons before being traded to the Cowboys in 1991. He was named a second-team All Pro while playing for the Falcons in 1989.
Casillas was born on October 26, 1963 in Tulsa Oklahoma and played college football under Barry Switzer at the University of Oklahoma, where he helped lead the Sooners to the 1985 National Championship. That season, he was honored as the UPI Lineman of the Year and Big 8 Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a consensus first-team All-American and became just the second player in OU history to win the Lombardi Award. He was named for the 1980s as the College Defensive Player of the Decade by the National Football Foundation and became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
