Paul Finebaum has worked for ESPN since joining the network in 2013 to host the ESPN Radio program and SEC Network simulcast “The Paul Finebaum Show”. Considered one of the country’s leading voices on Southeastern Conference (SEC) college football, Finebaum has also appeared on the ESPN-owned SEC Network’s SEC Nation and numerous other ESPN shows, including SportsCenter, Get Up, College GameDay and College Football Live.
Finebaum started his career in Alabama as a reporter and columnist for the Birmingham Post-Herald in 1980. He became a major journalistic figure in the state of Alabama over the next few decades and joined the Mobile Press Register in 2001. Also beginning that same year and continuing through 2012 was the creation of the Paul Finebaum Radio Network, which became popular throughout the Southeast and was named in 2004 by Sports Illustrated as one of the 12 top radio sports programs in the country.
Finebaum has appeared on CNN and MSNBC as well as numerous other tv networks and programs. He is the author of several books, including the 2013 New York Times bestselling book titled “My Conference Can Beat Your Conference: Why the SEC Still Rules College Football.” Also in 2013, Sports Illustrated named him one of the 20 Most Powerful People in Sports Media in the United States. In 2020, Finebaum was honored with the Mel Allen Award, which is presented to a member of the media who has made a significant contribution to sports. Finebaum is a graduate of the University of Tennessee. In 2013, his alma mater presented him with the “Accomplished Alumni Award.”
