Isaac Bruce is a former NFL wide receiver who played from 1994-2009 for the St. Louis Rams (later Los Angeles Rams) and San Francisco 49ers. Bruce played collegiately at the University of Memphis and was a second round draft pick by St. Louis in 1994. In 1995, he racked up 1,781 receiving yards, good for fifth all-time for single-season receiving yards. At the time, he was second only to Jerry Rice’s 1,848-yard campaign the same year. Bruce led the NFL with 1,338 receiving yards in only his third year in the league. He played with the Rams from 1994-2007 and appeared in two Super Bowls, earning a ring in 2000. In Super Bowl XXXIV, Bruce was targeted by Rams’ quarterback Kurt Warner 12 times, recording six catches, 162 yards and a touchdown in St. Louis’s 23-16 victory over Tennessee.
Bruce played for the San Francisco 49ers from 2008-09 before retiring. A four-time Pro Bowler, he is the Rams’ all-time leader in receiving yards, receptions and receiving touchdowns. His No. 80 was retired by St. Louis in 2010. His 1,024 career receptions rank 14th in NFL history while his 15,208 receiving yards is good for fifth place on the all-time list. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020 along with Edgerrin James, Troy Polamalu, Steve Hutchinson and Steve Atwater. Bruce provided free tickets to Rams games for multiple schools and youth organizations throughout his career and has been active with various nonprofits since his playing days ended, including United Way Worldwide.
